How are these two cities comparable (or not)? All I really know is that they are both southern cities of roughly the same size.

How do they compare in terms of scenery, food, friendliness, arts/music/"culture", outdoor opportunities, etc. etc.?

I don't know much about Little Rock, but Richmond is a hot little city. Plenty of cultural ammenities, nice skyline, great higher ed, and lots of outdoor activities.

Eh, been to both, not a fan of either, but I'd give the edge to Richmond. Larger, more historical, and the capital of a far more important state, economically and politically (no offense to AR and the Waltons). Too lazy to bust out the stats, but I don't even believe they're on the same tier...

I wouldn't say they are "roughly the same size," at least going by MSA stats. Richmond is definitely the larger of the two. I think Little Rock can be underrated at times, but I think Richmond probably wins this round.

Never been to Richmond, used to live in LR. A quick look at stats leads me to think Richmond has noticeably better weather but an unusually high number of homicides in some years. Little Rock's crime rate is through the roof overall, and avoiding it can be cumbersome at times.
I found Little Rock to be rather dull with horrible summer weather. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone that has other options.

Never been to Richmond, but go to school 30 mins south of little rock (ugh), but little rock is pretty cool. It has a big town feel to it, not quite a big city feel at all, but big feel for the state of arkansas. IF I had to live there it would be temporary.

Little Rock sucks, it has alot of potential too be a nice city but it needs more industry and jobs there and bring more clubs and restaurants downtown plus have a skyline and make the airport bigger then what it is and stop thinking small make liitle rock like dallas hell combine both little rock and north liitle rock and call it Little Rock.

I think both of these cities are interesting. But it sounds like more people here prefer Richmond.

Richmond, though these cities really aren't in the same league. Richmond is a better comparison to Memphis than it is Little Rock and in my opinion it would still win that battle.

Richmond's shopping alone destroys anything about Little Rock
