I really wouldn't want to live in either. I'll go with Fayetteville. Not far from the Raleigh/Durham area and the Wilmington area beaches. Though it has its warts, it's not as bad as some think. My son's in the 82nd Airborne there. Ft. Bragg is a fantastic military base.
Since the game is "where would you rather live" and not "where you can afford to live" San Francisco wins for me. The political extremists would be a turnoff, but It's a huge city- I'm sure I could find a few people who are fun to hang out with.

Bend, OR vs. Moab, UT
Both are pretty fantastic for the great outdoors. Moab is cute and friendly and Arches was one of the most awesome hikes I've ever done. That said for a place to live Bend would have more to do. Oregon's diversity of landscapes, skiing at Mt Bachellor, and having Portland three hours away are all very appealing. Bend also has a lot of beautiful homes and property.

Bellingham, WA or Olympia, WA?
Bellingham, WA- Better access to Vancouver and close to North Cascades National Park which looks amazing..maybe even cooler than Olympic NP from the pictures I'm looking at now.

Bellingham, WA or Olympia, WA?
Neither, but I'll take Olympia since it's the state capital.
Lexington, KY or Champaign, IL?
