OP is from Chicago. Denver's typically about 10-15 degrees warmer, on average, than Chicago is during the winter.
300 days of sunshine is a marketing ploy. It's not quite that sunny, but it's definitely noticeably sunnier than many parts of the upper midwest during the winter.
I'm not a beach person so it'd take me about 6 hours to get my fill of an ungodly humid Florida summer and the bugs and snakes that go with it.
If you love the mountains, and would enjoy all that they entail your choice is simple.
I agree with what blue screen has said above about Denver. We lived there for 3 years and just relocated back to Texas. One thing I found to be the case in Denver is that it is such a desirable place to live, that there are many professions that are really over saturated and unnecessarily competitive. That was the case with practicing medicine for sure and it was why we left even though we loved living there. This is a bit of a niche problem though to be sure.
Also, the sunshine thing is indeed a bit of a ploy, but there are lots and lots of really sunny days in Denver and the grayness doesn't seem to linger. Winters were really not that bad on the whole and I say that as someone who is from Texas, LOL. People are not unfriendly, but they are slightly insular and even a bit aloof. Definitely not a sense of Southern charm there, but that's OK.
The point blue screen touches on about isolation is an important one. Denver is landlocked and located very far away from any other large or even medium sized cities. Driving to another city is really out of the realm of ease. You would be flying to go almost anywhere.

You don't think those exist anywhere else? Pretty much anywhere in the South, you can encounter those types outside of the cores of larger cities...yes, even in Georgia.
Never understood why so many people on city-data in general are so comfortable with not knowing what they're talking about before they post. People pull up random vid and then based their opinions about a place off it, versus actually experiencing a place before they speak on it.

I appreciate everyone's help. I got back from a short trip to Colorado yesterday and loved it. However, I now know that I would only want to relocate to somewhere warmer; the sun in Denver helped a lot during the day, but the nights felt just as cold as I'm used to. I would definitely prefer Denver over Chicago, but Tampa or another area in Florida is where I'm leaning towards now. Thank you all!
