Why not just give each a shot. At least in South Lake you could afford to give it a try for more than a week.

Aspen, hands down (for the skiing, anyway).

Aspen is the mountain town par excellence for the ultra-rich to park their private jets.

Aspens a great ski town, but I'd give Tahoe the edge for skiing. You have Northstar, Heavenly, Squaw Valley, Sugarbowl, Sierra-at-Tahoe and Kirkwood all concentrated around the lake. Plus Aspen is a costly place all around, while Tahoe is much more reasonable.

Aspen is beautiful but you can't really beat the views you can get of Lake Tahoe from the top of the slopes.

Tahoe has quantity when it comes to skiing but Aspen is definitely more quality skiing, as are most major CO resorts compared to Tahoe.

Depends on the year. When Tahoe has powder, it's tough to beat, but more recently it's been wet snow, so I'd say Aspen.

That's really subjective though. Tahoe resorts get more snow, and while a good majority of it might be wetter snow, they still have a good amount of the dry fluffy stuff every year.

It normally has wetter snow than CO, hence the term "Sierra Cement".
