Really guys ! I thought Oakland was pretty bad? I did wanted to go there a long time ago, but got discourage from all the gang violence was hearing, has it changed?
Except for East Oakland, its pretty much just your typical hipster city now.
It's getting kind of pricy, but still way more manageable than SF is.
I just got back from there yesterday, and it's changed so much in the last 5 years that I didn't even recognize it. It's a pretty dope city.
Before finding a location, find a job first. If you're a fun person, no matter where you live, fun will find you.
I've lived in Seattle and spent a lot of time in Philly, and honestly, the difference in people is overblown. As long as you're not completely socially inept, you'll make friends.
Philly. Philly has more things to do and is significantly larger than the other two. I use to like Seattle but Seattle freeze is a thing, and I can't deal with that. Plus the greyness all the time would be depressing. Austin is a nice choice too. Austin has a lot of jobs in IT and is a very interesting city. I would go with either Philly or Austin.
Actually the grey weather is in the winter its sunny alot in the spring and spectualr weather during summer. The pluss of the greyness during winter is its mild weather . I love going to museums in Seattle. Philly and Seattle are both museum cities . Philly museum culture is based on more history and science. Seattles museum culture is based on technology and science. Seattle. has one of the worlds largest air and space museums, America's Car Museum was the largest in the world when it opened a couple years ago . The E.M.P. Science Fiction and Music Museum are a couple of my favorites ou of dozens of museums in Seattle. Seattle has been adding about one major museum a year and has several projects going on right now. Including a new natural history museum, a new wooden boat museum, a large pavalion for large jets, and a large new aquarium pluss a 250 million dollar expansion of Seattle aquarium. So we stay busy during winter .
If someone is worried about the gray winters before moving to Seattle, they shouldn't do it. 20% possible sunshine hours in winter is miserable to a lot of people. Philadelphia isn't some desert SW city, but it's definitely better than Seattle.

Man.. every time I look at Seattle's weather versus some other cities weather (who supposedly has much better weather) Seattle is always sunnier.... Weirddd

Serious question here.
Entertainment-wise? Not just the Sixers, but the Flyers too (regardless if the teams suck some years, you still get to see opposing players like Steph Curry and Sidney Crosby). More D-1 schools that are good in something. Authentic Latino nightclubs/restaurants supported by a much larger population. Excellent boxing gyms. Access to some of the best beaches in the nation in 1-2 hours. A much larger African American population and all of the entertainment offerings/places that come with it, professionally and non-professionally. More music venues, both for local and national acts. A plethora of better colleges to do kegs and eggs and beer pong it up in. Much better neo-soul. Better rappers (Meek Mill >Macklemore). PBR specials. Barcade. Better tailgating. Tax-free shopping in Delaware. NFL parlay gambling in Delaware. Hot Italian women. BYOB at more venues than should be legal/profitable. Historical areas/museums that are unmatched anywhere else in this country.
