If you were gifted 10 milllion dollars but the catch is you must live in any of these cities and never leave (suburbs included). Both heavily industrial blue collar towns both suffer from urban blight. Both have large African American population. Both host beautiful suburbs. Which one would you choose and why?

I would choose Baltimore. Proximity to the harbour, great seafood. Also has a casino like Detroit (Jacks Casino used to be called the Horseshoe). Generally cool to mild winters. Beautiful suburbs and architecture. Excellent medical facilities.

Downtown Detroit was pretty impressive and enjoyable based on a recent visit.

Strengths: amazing architecture, Great lakes, professional sports, some of the nicest suburban communities in the country, rich history, arts scene etc.

I think it would also be cool to be part of a renaissance and work towards revitalizing neighborhoods outside of the immediate downtown area.

So Detroit all the way!

Seems like this is a "let's pretend" bash based thread. I don't like these.

Such a negative way to view it.Take your negativity elsewhere. How is your day? I hope it's great.

Good pick Detroit is beautiful and I didn't think of sports. And technically Detroit is much larger and easier to get lost in than Baltimore. But I love fresh seafood...lol. Hard decision for me.

If Baltimore is expansive enough to include the CSA, then Baltimore. Otherwise, Detroit (does Detroit get Windsor metro, too)?

You, basically, put two cities out there that you view negatively, otherwise, why the choice? It's not me, bud, it's you. Remember, you said "the catch is."

Howard County has plenty of great places to live in.

I would probably choose Ellicott City as it has plenty of nice homes for a few mill.

I can't imagine being stuck in one city for the rest of my life. That said, if for some peculiar reason I had to, I'm sure I'd be ok in either one.

I'm slightly more familiar with Baltimore and with its milder winter and better (should be) asian food, I'll go with it.

I don't view any of the aforementioned cities in a negative light. That's your assumption. I couldve did the same for any other city but I chose Detroit and Baltimore because I haven't seen a recent post on either. If you felt the way that you do then you didn't have to comment. Subconsciously your bashing them because you brought bashing up in the first place. I love both cities tbh I'm a big fan of Rust Belt cities in general, that's my preference.
