By mainland, I'm referring to the continental U.S. outside of Hawaii.
Pacific Islanders don't get much attention in the U.S., especially when they're not included with Asians.
Which metro area in the mainland U.S. has the most Pacific Islander influence, whether it's culture, population, food, and other factors.
By Pacific Islanders, I'm referring to Polynesians(Samoans, Tongans, native Hawaiians), Micronesians(Guamanians, Marshallese, Micronesians, etc.) and Melanesians(Fijians and others).
I personally think it's Seattle these days but I'm interested in everyone's opinion.
According to raw numbers from the 2010 census, the top metros by number of Pacific Islanders are...
1. Los Angeles, CA - 43,868 (.0034%)
2. San Jose, CA - 41,360 (.0225%)
3. Seattle, WA - 32,085 (.0093%)
4. Salt Lake City, UT - 18,135 (.0167%)
5. Sacramento, CA - 15,556 (.0072%)
6. San Diego, CA - 13,504 (.0043%)
Now of course population ≠ influence, but the data is something to consider.
It's interesting to me that Alaska has a Pacific Islander population
