Never met an international tourist in Nashville. McCarran Airport pretty much sums up their reach. FYI - I am not from or have any hard connections to either of those cities so please don't jump down my throat about my unbiased opinion.
This is an old article, but sums up international tourism in Nashville. CMA Fest alone is more than 10% international. The article doesn't include the thousands of students who choose Nashville for higher education.

1- 10 is a greater percentage increase than 101 -110. Vegas has been doing what Nashville is beginning to do for years. They have and will always have a higher prior year base number to 'spring board' from than that of Nashville.

That's fine. The point was that there is international tourism in Nashville. Nashville international also continues to add international destinations.
Sorry for saying Nashville doesn't have international tourism. They definitely don't have the international tourism that Vegas has and BNA needs to add quite a few more international destinations to be in the ring with LAS. Cheers to a bright future Nashville!

No worries. Nashville is getting there. The airport is already nice, just too small and hard to access, especially during rushhour. The whole city is one big construction zone. Next comes the roads....that will be a big headache.
I visit Nashville several times a year and live in Las Vegas for the past month. I think I prefer Vegas over Nashville both as a tourist and living.
*Better tourist attractions

There is so much more to see as a tourist. The average tourist could spend 4 days here easily but they would spend a lot of money being entertained. Nashville doesn't have the diversity or the number of attractions to hold most peoples attention that long.
*Better bars and clubs
I am not a clubber or a bar person but I would guess Vegas. People from all over the place come to Vegas to party. I still don't see that happening in Nashville outside of country music.
*Better restaurant options

The number of high profile restaurants is really shocking for a city the size of Vegas. Nashville seems a bit over rated at this time.
*Cost of living

The city is still relatively affordable and many great deals can be had. Nashville is too expensive for the size and what it offers. Nashville doesn't seem sustainable.
*Better downtown

Downtown Nashville is the heart of Nashville. There seems to be more housing, jobs and bars in Nashville. Downtown Vegas is not. Vegas puts a lot into its strip not downtown.
*Better neighborhoods
Neither
Vegas nor Nashville will give you an authentic urban experience that resembles a major city. Both are too suburban and spread out and new to be neighborhood centric.
*Better economy

The city beat Vegas with growth(?), unemplyment rate, GMP and number of fortune 500 companies. Vegas isn't corporate right now.
*Better climate
Vegas because no snow.
*Better potential in next 10 years for positive growth
I don't know.
It is easy to say Nashville but if the city doesn't figure out transit and infrastructure I don't think the current rate of growth is sustainable.

Only because Nashville doesn't seem to understand how important lrt and update infrastructure is to a city. Vegas at least is moving forward with lrt.
I think this is unfair. Las Vegas offers more than casinos. It may not be ideal or offer the same quality of life as Nashville, but it does offer a decent economy, amenities, and proximity to other destinations in nearby states.
It's not unfair. What would Vegas have without the strip? Would it be what it is without it? The fact of the matter is, Vegas is based around tourism. Take out the strip, and there goes the tourism. The city wouldn't be any larger than Tuscon or Reno without the strip.
Those links you provided are nice yea. But most major metropolitan areas have just as many parks and amenities nearby. Many major cities are adding thousands of jobs, and not just in tourism.
Vegas is a niche city. The QOL is much higher in Nashville and many other cities that have diversified economies and cater to a wide range of lifestyles.

There's beautiful landscape right in and outside of Vegas. That does little for the economy but it's something that Nashville doesn't really have.
I think Nashville is good for a certain demographic but you couldn't convince me to go back to a southern city in the bible belt. The QOL is subjective, but I will agree that the general QOL is higher than in Las Vegas.
