Interesting comparison, these two have some similarities in their largest nightlife areas ; Fells Point/Harbor East in Baltimore vs South side in Pittsburgh. The South side is probably somewhat larger and more varied. I think Pittsburgh wins this based on also having a revitalized Downtown nightlife, as well as Lawrenceville and Shadyside/East Liberty.
Baltimore has Inner Harbor and a few smaller areas in addition. But I think Pittsburgh edges out B'more.

Baltimore as Powerplant in downtown Baltimore, Fells Point, Federal Hill, Canton, Hampden, Mt Vernon, a casino.
I'd say Baltimore wins this one, but I really like Carson St. In Pittsburgh.

Yeah this one is so close it probably comes down to very personal preferences. Pgh does have a casino also, but its kind of out of the way on the western portion of the north shore, which also has a bunch of other nightlife, although not very near ther casino but closer to downtown. I think both cities have very comparable nightlife, but Pittsbugh's seems to be a bit more widespread. I actually didn't like the powperplant in Baltimore, just seemed too forced and one dimensionally aimed at Bros. Just prefer the more organic small business districts as opposed to the corporate large developments.

Aimed a Bros... Lol. I'd have to agree.
Fells Point, Federal Hill, Canton, Mt Vernon, Hampden are far more organic than PowerPlant.
I haven’t experienced Baltimore nightlife in 15 years, but I’m leaning towards a tie. Pittsburgh and Baltimore are really evenly matched in most categories, and are probably each-other’s closest peer city.
Maybe he means that more people in DC are willing to go hang out in Baltimore sometimes.
Exactly.Baltimore has its own style but D.C has some influence on Baltimore more than the other way around.
