Which is better in terms of living, infrastructure, architecture, things to do, etc.?

The Long Island side of NYC metro or the Jersey side?

I generally like the NJ side, but you included BK and Queens with LI which makes it a no brainer for LI. If you had Suffolk and Nassau versus Hudson, Bergen, Essex, etc then it’s Nj. There was a similar thread for that comparison.

Why not? Not that many are actually forced to live there so you should be safe.

Personally I could see living in Hoboken or Jersey City. Maybe Newark.

I just don't have any interest. Not when NY is right across the river. If NJ was surrounded by nothing, then I'd see things differently.
