There's a popular thread now comparing Austin and KC. I figured why not compare Austin to a somewhat similar city. I'm wondering which do you think is better.

Here's some criteria to consider.

1. Downtown
2. Walkability
3. Transportation car and public
4. Scenery
5. Economy
6. Bars/Resturauntes
7. Outdoor Activities
8. Climate
9. Suburbs
10. Safety
11. COL
12. Where would you rather live?

I read on another thread that Cincinnati suburbs are ghetto and the area lacks diversity. How true is this; as the post was a few years ago. I apologize for being off track but I haven’t visited either and am greatly interested.

Like other major American metro areas, Cincinnati has a wide variety of suburbs of all socioeconomic levels. The area as a whole doesn't lack diversity, but some specific communities are highly homogeneous and dominated by natives. The Cincinnati metro has fewer immigrants than most comparably sized areas (including Austin), but there has been a high growth rate in such groups in recent years in the less insular communities like Sharonville or Mason.

Cincinnati and Austin do not have a lot in common aside from similar total populations and hilly topography with a major river running through their urban cores, but both are far more complex than their stereotypes would suggest.

I've always liked Cincinnati. It's a more complete city/metro. I personally find Austin extraordinarily overrated. Not a horrible area, just overrated.

Austin. Was just there last weekend. The place is boomtown. Very crowded and easily walkable.

Whoever thinks Cincinnati is better than Austin needs to get their brain checked. Austin is hands down 1000 times better than Cincinnati. Austin had great nightlife, very nice suburbs, a booming univeristy and great restaurants. There are things to do in Austin. Austin has a much better climate as the winters here are mainly in the 60s while in Cincinnati they are in the 30s. There is a very nice downtown riverfront park that Cincinnati does not have. Austin suburbs are much better for example, Round Rock, Leander and Cedar Park. The only suburb I would live in in the Cincinnati area is Mason. Austin is incredibly diverse unlike Cincinnati which is mainly White and Black, Austin has people from all over the world. People want to move to Austin, there are jobs here. Austin metro is one of the fastest growing areas in the nation. Hays County just south of Austin is the fastest growing county in America. Cincinnati isn’t growing at all and hasn’t grown for the past decade.
