Please vote for the Metro areas that you think are the most livable, desirable, affordable, prosperous etc. Perhaps the ones you would like to live in. Keep in mind affordability is becoming more important.

With everywhere I've visited and lived across the nation, for what I look for in a livable area, I think Charlotte is the most well-rounded in terms of size preference (for me), cost of living/buying power, economy, climate/sunny, 4-season, things to do, outdoor activities, doesn't embrace political extremes, clean/green/flora, friendly people/people get along well, great airport, great local/non-chain restaurants.

Default Charlotte is not bad

Charlotte does look like a nice place. It may not be a sprawling mega city but who needs that anyway? It looks like a decent place for outdoor activities. I wonder if it is a segregated city where one area is really bad and the rest OK kind of like Jacksonville Florida with it's Northside-Southside segregation. What are some of the affordable nice parts of Charlotte?

For me it was a toss up between Boston and Pittsburgh because they were the two I am the most familiar with.

It's not and Jacksonville is changing rapidly in that department as well.

What was the reasoning behind including Virginia Beach over Richmond? Richmond is growing faster and has a more dynamic economy.

Sheesh! Indianapolis really needs to up its game as a city. It gets destroyed in pretty much every poll.

It's funny, by any definition, to see the high vote totals for cities that are so far down the list. It just shows you CD is not reality.

I think Seattle's strong showing makes sense. Strong growth population wise and economy wise. It's expensive to live here but wages outpace almost every other metro sans NYC and The Bay. The climate is very chill - and despite what you may think the rainy weather is getting rather sparse (which actually is a little scary). I think being prosperous, desirable, and livable are strong suits for the Puget Sound region.
