Birmingham did not meet the threshold for top 5 cities with most skyscrapers in the south east. I think they have 7 or so.

New Orleans I debated whether or not to include south east, but put it south central instead, grouping Louisiana with Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas.

Rationale for excluding Tampa?

Tampa does not meet the threshold for top 5 cities in the southeast with the most skyscrapers.

How so? It has more than Louisville... And several under construction.

I took another look now -- using both Wikipedia and Emporis. I had in my original notes that Tampa had 13, but now with my recount, they do have 14 over 300 feet completed.

So, they are tied with Louisville--for now. They technically should've been in 5th place in this list though, because they have more "under construction" than Louisville.

So, both Louisville and Tampa have 14 skyscrapers over 300 feet, but Tampa will pass Louisville later this year or next, with the new ones being completed. Tampa should be in 5th place.

I am glad to see Tampa "rise" to the occasion.

Now if only it could bring some life into its downtown/core. It's pretty bad.

Compiling a list like this is extremely difficult, and unless locals from EACH CITY chime in with knowledge of the going-ons in construction, it won't be accurate...
It's easy to see how and why Tampa would have been omitted.
