Out of those cities, I'd say Houston is the friendliest. Austin comes in at a close 2nd.

Default Lubbock

Lubbock doesn't call itself "The Friendliest City in America", for nothing. Though much smaller than the other cities on this list, there is truly a "small town" feel, with regard to the attitude of the residents.

I lived in smaller cities, Temple, Wichita Falls and Midland, and none of them were nearly as friendly as Lubbock. Dallas and Austin are two of the most snobbish places I have been. I rarely go to Houston, so I will withhold judgement.

It was during one of the "booms" and there were lots of folks from out of state, and way too many pretentious "thousandaires".

I'd put Austin closer to the bottom, honestly. I suppose, on the surface they can be friendly (as people are all over Texas), but they are not very welcoming to any new comers. The attitude there can make your previous city feel inferior and you feel like you need to live in a certain place, do certain things, and put in the time in order to be considered a 'true Austinite'.
