Over to neighboring Tennessee and North Carolina for this one, we have the thick, lush forests of Chattanooga pitted against the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville. Hard to go wrong here.

Tough call. Chattanooga for me based on its scenic background, TN river, and more dramatic urban development on its topography. Asheville wins on parks and better scenery outside the city.

That's close. I love both dearly. Gotta to with Asheville given that the Blue Ridge Pkwy. runs right through the city. But you really can't go wrong with either.

I chose Asheville for the much higher terrain immediately near the city, but Chattanooga almost makes up for it with the Tennessee River winding its way through.

Yeah, these are pretty even, and both vie for prettiest setting in the south (or eastern U.S.).

I really like mountain backdrops, so chose Asheville, but the dramatic hills and river winding right through downtown Chattanooga is great, too.
