The metroplex should be larger than Boston because the nature of development in Texas is ‘larger’. Roads are larger, schools are larger, buildings are larger, grids are larger, homes are larger, the core cities are larger. Everything’s larger. Consistent metropolitan/modern development continues out much further in DFW. Economic development is much less concentrated in any one central area than Boston.
I think you underestimate the extent to which southeastern New England has sprawled together over the last 100 years. I even have one coworker who commutes to our office in Andover from York County, ME. I wouldn’t be too shocked if Portland’s MSA were added to the CSA at some point.
Anyway, I’d like to see the data for Worcester and Manchester’s MSAs at some point. Providence is surprisingly white considering the demographics of the anchor city itself.
Edit: Gotem. They’re generally what I thought they’d be. I expected Worcester’s MSA to be more Asian considering Shrewsbury and Westborough.
Worcester, MA-CT Metro Area
75.6% White
12.2% Hispanic
4.8% Black
4.6% Asian
Manchester-Nashua, NH Metro Area
83.7% White
7.3% Hispanic
3.9% Asian
2.7% Black

They are included in the estimates. That is a reason why the El Salvadoran and Honduran populations are so high and the Mexican populations are stagnant. The estimates dont attempt to determine who is legal and who isnt, but rather just who is there period.
If youre interested, the Migration Policy Institute does keep better track of how many are legal vs. illegal. But the most recent data is broken down by state as opposed to Metro Area. I imagine they will update that soon.
For example, in Texas, the largest regions of undocumented immigrants were:
Mexico: 1,144,000
Central America: 192,000
Asia: 151,000
Africa: 36,000
Europe/Canada/Oceana: 35,000
South America: 34,000
Caribbean: 5,000
I'm talking about the Chicago MSA. It's losing more blacks than anywhere in the country except New York and it's easy to see why.
Well, the MSA's black non-hispanic estimate from 2018 to 2019(1,521,747 compared to 1,521,704) has remained virtually unchanged. Satellite cities such as Aurora, Joliet, Kenosha, Waukegan, and Hammond are showing gains in a single year time. Those cities aren't too high in crime and are considered inexpensive, which seems to be a good formula for a city to have a stable or growing black population. It's evident that losses in the MSA is almost solely driven by Chicago proper. Since 2010, more black people have left the city proper than the MSA. Greater Chicago isn't too shabby in keeping black people, mostly a lot of shuffling in the inner ring and outer ring burbs.
Here are the numbers for Asians by metro area as of 2019. For these, Im going to focus more on the bigger Asian MSAs. If someone has a city they want info on that I didnt cover, let me know and Ill dig it up!

Looks like within a few years, Dallas will for sure be #2 after the New York MSA for Indian Americans. I wonder why Houston is not as popular. I personally know a few Indians from Houston/moved to Houston and always thought it had a large growing Indian population but Dallas is eclipsing it easily.

In terms of foreign born Indians, DFW is already number three. It has 143,198 and Chicago has 140,999. SF has 148,044.
