Some states have two "dominating" cities that are often compared since they are the two most important cities- and usually the two largest (based on metro). Many are similar size and comparable as far as importance in the state economy.

Criteria:

Entertainment/Nightlife
Economy
Crime
Food
Culture
History
etc.

Which of the following cities win based on this criteria?

California:
Los Angeles vs. San Francisco

Missouri:
St. Louis vs. Kansas City

Tennessee:
Nashville vs. Memphis

Texas:
Dallas vs. Houston

Oklahoma:
Oklahoma City vs. Tulsa

Pennsylvania:
Philadelphia vs. Pittsburgh

Ohio:
Cleveland vs. Columbus vs. Cincinnati (Couldn't pick which two are the most important in OH)

Florida:
Tampa vs. Miami

Some may be obvious (like in Pennsylvania), but its still can be subjective for some people.

Florida and Pennsylvania don't belong here.

Miami is more dominant than Tampa by a decent margin. while Philadelphia is more dominant than Pittsburgh by a decent margin.

I kind of agree, although I think I can understand what the poster was implying.

While Philadelphia is 100% the dominate city of Pennsylvania economically and historically, Pittsburgh does have a strong cultural influence on the state.

I would argue maybe more so than Philadelphia.

I am guessing the same can be said that while Miami is much more dominate than Tampa. Tampa has a stronger Florida identity overall.

Florida doesn't belong here. Pennsylvania also kind of, but that one is more acceptable.

Maybe also Huntsville vs Birmingham, AL

The Miami metro has over twice the GDP and population that the Tampa metro has. Orlando is pretty close to Tampa these days. Pennsylvania has an even bigger difference.

Birmingham is in a tier above Huntsville and easily wins every category mentioned except economy.
