I'll defend the Chicago falls too. The lake keeps the city relatively mild and the urban tree-lined streets turn beautiful colors. The Midwest is beautiful in autumn. October and November in Chicago is generally pretty mild in terms of weather.
December gets cold but has the holiday season and lights to compensate. Jan/Feb is the heart of winter and a good time to hibernate. March is generally winter part II. April is a wild card. It's going to sleet tomorrow, but its 60-70s next week.
Thank you. I will send this to my wife in hopes she will be willing to move there.
There is no better city in the US than Chicago in the summer. I think it’s because the winter is so harsh the city comes alive in a way no other place does. There are so many great neighborhood festivals, the beaches are packed and fun, and the weather is great. As someone who grew up in the south and lived in Chicago those winters were something I was not prepared for. Once summer came around it felt like there was a sense of “ok, we just got through that bull**** let’s have some fun!”.
NYC is crap during the summer. Hazy, hot and humid.
For those complaining about Chicago's cold, come to the Twin Cities and points north and you'll be yearning for Chicago winters.
