I'd guess the rudest states are the ones where the natives have a reputation for being rude AND they have a lot of tourism. People act like jerks when they're on vacation.

Native Marylanders and Pennsylvanians are really nice and friendly. they don't have a rep for being rude. Transplants in those states do though.

Default Montana is VERY friendly

A lot of out of area-ers confuse unfriendly with direct in Montana. GREAT
with a capital G place to live.

I disagree I am from the philadelphia area and have traveled all over the country and I have to say Philadelphians are extremly rude, but u get that in every mag city with tourists because the native people really dont wanna deal with them. The rest of PA is nice though exceopt for Pittsburgh.

I've been to many states. I'd have to say Maine was the friendliest. The rudest goes to Florida.

Most friendly are in the New England States. Rudest are in Georgia (especially the Atlanta Suburbs). Unless you are a rich super right wing Republican, they treat you like crap!!!

Yeah, I never experienced any real southern hospitality at all in Georgia. I drove through the state with some friends on my way to Florida. I drove through some pretty small towns on the way. I got some strange looks when walking into the gas stations and stores, I guess because of my thick accent and my NY-er ways, lol. I don't know, I guess we stand out in small, southern towns. I wasn't being rude or anything, I guess they could just tell I wasn't from around there.

And many people in the New England states treat people like crap if they are not some ultra left wing Democrat.
