Tough one. If I had to chose a place to live, it would be LV. To visit, I'd probably chose Atlantic City, since I rarely gamble, its pretty damn close (buses from NYC are great and cheap), and at least I can hang out at the beach during in the summer. As for drinking/partying, LV I guess, since the ladies there are better looking.

The Broadwalk isn't actually that bad, and I believe it is the largest one in the Nation. I don't think the crime situation in AC is a bad a Vegas. Granted, they both have very bad areas, but the last time I've checked, there was never a shooting in an AC casino. AC is going through a mini make over, but it will still be years behind Vegas.

The boardwalk is just sketchy at night. Especially that empty area between casinos that leads to the streets. It's dark there and lot's of lowlives hanging around, and very little if any law enforcement presence there. Late at night into the early morning hours there are a lot of thugs hanging around the casino's soliciting innocent women. My wife was propositioned and harassed there while playing the slots (no she doesn't look like a prostitute but she is attractive) at 2 AM. They were also hitting on and harassing other women as well. Thinking all young attractive women must be whores. That happened at two different Casino's, The Tropicana and The Taj Mahal. Never had any issues at Vegas or any of the Indian Casino's.

AC is just a lot worst. Look at the crime comparison per 100K people.

I go to AC frequently for conferences, and occasionally just to hang out at the casinos and the beach. It's not bad, but Vegas just has "more to it." It's much larger, more going on. Neither would be my first choice for a vacation, and I'd rather not live in either.

I don't believe in gambling, so my pick would have to be based on something else. New Jersey has cooler weather, is by the ocean. In proximity to Harrisburg, Baltimore, NYC, Philly. Still has plenty to do.

Vegas is WAY to hot. It still has alot to do. But I cannot take the heat. Too far away from family also.

I was surprised that the heat didn't feel so bad in LV. I know people think it's hype, but dry heat is WAY better than humid heat. The only bad thing about the dry heat is that you don't sweat and can't tell if you're dehydrating. That happened to me when I visited in the summer. I felt like I was going to faint, was really tired, but wasn't sweating, and I didn't know why. Realized I needed water. But at least you can drive a half hour to escape the heat in the mountains
