Right. "Which city is whitest?" "Which city is the most conservative?" It's like a broken record, I swear.
Most people have never even been to the cities they chastise so much, like Phoenix and Oklahoma City for example, but you'd swear they had lived there all their lives because you hear them constantly talk about them.
I must say, these types of threads aren't as bad as the Portland/Austin/insert-midsized-college-town-here orgasm threads, though.
Not to mention the overdone Houston v. Chicago war threads.
Never understood what "family friendly" meant myself. Can't say I've ever been anywhere and seen signs proclaiming "No Families Allowed!", "Families: Better have your butts out of town after dark!", or anything like that.
Let's face it, though. This topic is just another way of asking the same question that's already been asked --
Which city is the most "generic"?
The most "boring"?
Been there, done that, in this forum.
LOL. No Families Allowed. Families better have your but out after dark. That's Hilarious.

That's funny. But really, there IS such a thing. Here's what family friendly is:
-Green space big enough so that if you're playing with your kid and he starts to run off, you've got time to catch him before he gets to the street and gets hit by a car.
-No strip clubs or sex shops or liquor stores on that street/at that location.
-Accommodating of pets.
-Sidewalks and trails so that if you're riding bikes with your kids, you have to worry more about running into a pedestrian than about a car or truck running into you and your family.
-Having places of business that are geared towards children having fun: Dave and Buster's, some kind of play-land even as simple as a McDonald's play land, ice cream shops, etc.
Basically, if the overall atmosphere makes it easy for you to relax and have fun with your family because potential dangers have generally been removed or lessened, it's family friendly. But if the overall atmosphere is where you've got to cover your kids' eyes or hold onto them tight every second for fear of their safety or look over your shoulder every second to make sure they aren't going to get hit by a car because of all the dangers in the vicinity, it isn't that family friendly.
I mean really, redneck biker bars or inner city ghettos/slums don't have a sign saying "No Suburbanites Allowed" or "Get your suburbanite butts out after dark!" but if you're a suburbanite and you go into one, you're probably going to categorize it as not all that suburbanite-friendly.
No offense to anyone who lives there, but I've always thought of Columbus, Ohio as rather plain jane. Very typical suburbia for most of the metro, nothing ever too exciting going on. Just a pretty average place.
