I'm a 26/m from the east coast looking into a move to a city in a different region. I'm wondering about the dating scene in different cities for a single, outdoorsy guy thinking of going back to grad school. I'm into the outdoorsy, attractive and athletic girl type- a little granola/hippy, but not hipster.
I know some cities tend to draw this type, and some have larger selections of attractive women of this type, but I'm wondering where in particular people might recommend. I'm thinking of the following cities, but am not limited to those and am open to other suggestions.
I love the outdoors, being active, natural scenery, live music, good beer and coffee, bookstores, varied food, etc. I would be looking to meet women who mesh with this. Again, the following are some thoughts, but other ideas are welcome, as are thoughts/knowledge about the scene in these. Thanks!
If you want super-urban experience, go with San Francisco. It fits your criteria. Also, other cities in/near the bay area like Santa Cruz or Berkeley could work, although not nearly as urban as SF.
Seattle is more hipster than hippie, while Portland seems to have a mix of the two.
I would also consider smaller college towns like Eugene or Bellingham. Bellingham is an hour from Vancouver BC and an hour and a half from Seattle, but it has a lot going on in itself for a 80,000 person college town.
Santa Fe, looks like they dont wash their hair, they bring bad hygeine, vests and their East Coast attitude, then start complaing or they act like the world is gonna end when someone dosent like organic crap, before this whole organic crap phase, what did they live off of?
Ann Arbor? Not really. Sure, it's liberal, and there's somewhat of an organic "scene," but not really outdoorsy. The U.P., specifically Marquette, would probably be more up the OP's alley. Traverse City would work, too.
