True, after research, ethnic demographics are different. However, both cities have the stereotypical white yuppie in major abundance, so it's hard not to come to the conclusion that both are ethnically similar at first if your vantage point is as narrow as mine!

You know you're a rare breed. Don't even try to play it off as a city that's filled with native sons and daughters. SF is one of the most transient cities in one of the most transient states. According to the Census, 35.7% of the city is FOREIGN born, not even in the US. And only 37.7% of the city's residents were even born in CA. The balance from another state.

Considering how large CA is, you can rest assured that of the 37.7% from CA, a large chunk is from LA and other parts of SoCal, another large chunk is from Sacramento, and a smaller but not insignificant chunk is from any other part of the state. There are many reasons that the SF-LA air route is one of the busiest in the world, business sure, but family as well. All the more reason for that HSR.

From what I remember, native San Franciscans are called "unicorns" locally.

Silly list. SF below Madrid and Vienna? No way. It's tied with Chicago for #2 in the nation as a financial center IMO.
