^True enough. NYC is the undisputed king...with chicago being extremely impressive as well. They're in the top tier when it comes to canyons. Everything else, falls quite a ways below, though some other cities do have some very respectable canyons themselves (SF and Boston to name a couple).

I think it's self explanatory that New York (number 1) and Chicago (number 2) are the kings of the massive canyons. However, I think other cities have unique canyons in certain ways. Boston has the curving streets that don't stick to a grid making for a perspective you won't find out of Boston or Southern Manhattan. San Fran has the hills which really make it interesting and beautiful.
if anybody has any pics of looking from michigan ave west into madison/adams/monroe those seem to run on forever as well...almost a vertigo effect, also looking down south michigan is a one sided cliff.
