If this was Detroit vs. North Philly, then I'd say Detroit, but other than that I don't know enough about Detroit to really say much

What a joke! Sounds like you havent been to either city! Either that, or you are being sarcastic to get attention. Detroit is.......Detroit. DEAD. And everyone knows it. People are moving out by the droves. The skyline is old and dirty, and most buildings are over 50% vacant. The only thing Detoilet has going for it is the casinos along the Detoilet River. Phily is a major US city, an international city, a much larger skyline, and has much too much to do. I would hardly call Phily 'boring', especially compared to Detoilet! I wouldnt necessarily want to live there, but its a great place to visit. Please get out more.

Unless the rest of the country has to immediately evacuate to the upper midwest, I can't see Detroit or Michigan ever "coming back". There are so very many places around the country that offer everything metro Detroit does (including Grand Rapids, on the west coast of MI) but also do not have the severe social problems Detroit does.

It's not just about getting business... there are simply so many other crushing social problems that need addressing first. And if you're a business trying to relocate, why on earth would you ever want to deal with that?

On the other hand, Detroit has the most exciting nightlife in the country. There are no police or active law enforcement, so if the **** hits the fan you're going down hard. That's probably what makes it so much more fun

I take Philly over Detroit, but over the Bridge theirs a little place called Camden New Jersey. I'll take Detroit over Camden anyday infact I'll take any city in the U.S. over Camden.

There are still 10 million people living in Michigan. You make it sound like we've turned into Montana or something.

If it were the 1940 or 50 glory days before the boom died off I'd say Detroit but it has lost a lot since then. As for architecture, it's taller classic gem skyscrapers like the Fisher Building, Book could rival what Philly has. Also Detroit's airport does have a much larger nicer more expensive midfield terminal than Philly has. I'd say Detroit has a better and larger airport but "over all" Philly leads in most categories.

I often see this from the pro-Detroit crowd... sorry, we're not comparing depressed area to depressed area, but instead, the whole cities. And in that rating, Philly wins in a walk in all facets: arts/culture, architecture, density, walkablity, lively neighborhoods, tranist, etc... and btw, while Detroit, like Cleveland and Chicago, continues to lose tons of people, Philadelphia actually GREW 5%, and is now back over 1.5M. Anybody rating Detroit over Philly is just a blind loyalist.
