Are you kidding? Well, it actually depends on which view.

Polo, do you mean the dominant building in the center of the photo -- with the pyramid on top? That's One Atlantic Center aka The IBM Building. It's stunning even at street level and the tower that launched the Midtown building boom in the 1980s.

I like your top photo the best, the bottom photo is nice in color.

To me the Atlanta skyline is better than Miami.

Atlanta appears to have 5 buildings that are unique and stand out among the others.

No offense to Miami but the city has a lackluster skyline compared to Atlanta (at least from what I see here on this sight)

It is all up to personal opinion. I think ATL has one of the best skylines in the US. I would not say Miami is lackluster though, look at the poll its basically 50/50 its two skylines which compare well because they are both large southern cities but one has the advantage with more classic and varied buildings while the other one has the water and more buildings. I will say that Miami has some great looking buildings but they are not seen well from the area where most of the skyline pictures are taken which is the water. Miami is also more dense so the good looking buildings are hidden a bit.

One of my favorite buildings is the Miami-Dade Court House which was the tallest building south of NYC when it was built.

Freedom Tower is a fantastic old skyscraper from 1926, nice Spanish Theme to it.

This is a nice shot of an extremely rare foggy day. Fog like this happens once every few years in Miami and only last for a little bit of time. Fog is so rare in Miami that fog which usually does not affect airports much closes down MIA.

Atlanta dose have some bland buildings too but the taller buildings are the ones that are more decorated. So even if Atlanta did build a lot of midsize towers, the more decorated towers will still stick out. I mean it makes no since putting crowns and etc on midrises that would be blocked. No one can deny Miami skyline size, but Miami needs to build more distinctive tall buildings. I agree though they Miami and Atlanta are missing something the other ones has. It is all up to personal opinion

Atlanta doesn't have a water feature but the dense forest canopy that appear in some shots is some what of a interesting feature.

I should say the picture made the Miami skyline look plain compared to the shot of Atlanta.

I have no reason to favor Miami or Atlanta.

Every city has some great aspects.

Personally I love the style of the Miami Dade Courthouse.
Very nice lines and is a very sexy looking bldg.

Yeah, most everyone appears to be firmly set in their preference where architectural styles are concerned.

But in all fairness, Miami's skyline is a monster to be sure. There are a few buildings that I believe stand out in some ways. BOA Miami immediately comes to mind as it reminds me of Georgia Pacific here. Both skylines illuminate vividly, but that Caribbean flair enables Miami to edge Atlanta IMO. I'm sure a case could be made that Atlanta's more varied shapes and lighted crowns make up for it, but I personally think Vegas and Miami are in a class by themselves where illumination is concerned... although Atlanta is taller.

I think Miami's terrain allows for better photo opportunities in many cases, whereas Atlanta's may be totally obscured just blocks away from the core.

Excellent points and excellent pictures. While I like both cities a lot, I will have to say that a lot of tall buildings in MIA are residential. For some reason, downtown MIA does not feel like the business hub the way downtown ATL does, on its own, without Midtown and Buckhead.

Here's the difference:

Atlanta > has more office skyscrapers
Miami > has more residential highrises
