The big boys get so much attention on C-D. What are your favorite mid-major metros? I'm defining that as a metro area with a population of between 1 million and 3 million (you can fudge the numbers a little, but please no NYC or tiny college town). Try to limit yourself to a top three for each question.

Which are your favorites to visit?

Which ones would you most like to live in?

Which do you think have the best future? This can be population growth, economic vitality, or just becoming a more vibrant, livable place.

San Antonio and Austin metros are just five miles apart so the nod goes to both of them.

This should be considered an inflammatory remark, considering how much potential debate this comment could bring about connecting the SA and Austin CSA's!

Depends in what part of the metro you live in, If you live in San Marcos and travel to New Braunfels then yes it would seem almost 5 mins apart.

My favorites are:

Austin
San Antonio
New Orleans
Nashville
Tampa
Denver
Seattle
San Diego

Not in that order, but really theres to many I like that i haven't mention.

Favorite mid sized cities

Denver
St Louis
Minneapolis
San Diego
Pittsburgh
(KCMO is a great city, but I hate the state line there so I would rather live in many other cities).
