Looks like I couldn't get the pictures to upload, but for those of you that know what the arenas look like, which location wins? I'll add other factors such as neighborhood and accessibility.
Verizon Center is in a bustling part (Chinatown) of DT DC. It also sits above three subway lines. The area is a mix of restaurants, lounges, bars, commercial offices and condo residences. Twelve years ago it was almost dead.
I have not been in the Verizon Center, but I've been outside of it. No doubt the area around it is more lively than the area around Chicago's United Center. That said, I attended a Blackhawks game at the United Center and was very impressed with the sightlines there.
Very familiar with both, been to each nearly a dozen times or so....
Verizon Center hands down wins on location, it is one of the most vibrant areas in DC, while the United Center, is in an undeserved part of the city (though it is slowly improving). In terms of the actual arena, I prefer the United Center. Hopefully DC can one day get a NBA caliber team to play in their fine arena :P

I agree. The best team that plays there is Georgetown.
United Center for arena
Verizon Center for everything else
Verizon Center is in a great urban location with direct Metro connections. The United Center location is awful.
