Two urban areas of similar size, and importance.

I'm planning a trip but don't know which one would be more worthwhile.

I'm trynna party, and I hear that ATL has an amazing party scene.

I also appreciate local culture and architecture, and I know that both these areas are strong in that respect, I just don't know which one is better.

Input plz.

It's subjective. Some will like one more than the other. That's always the case when you compare two great regions in the USA.

Myself, I party with my cousin in the Bay Area so much. So that's where I would probably go, not that Atlanta is bad in that aspect, I just don't have anyone there.

Not to be bias, but if your trying to party you need to come to Miami. Atlanta is a cool place to visit as well though, but seriously I would pick SF Bay Area over Greater Atlanta. I just think theres more to do and see in San Fran.

My cousin told me horror stories about when she left home and went to miami(in the 80's). Long story short she ended up crying begging for a ticket home.

I know my dollar would go much further in ATL, and my good time hinges on money.

Lol @ in the 80's, Miami has changed a lot in the last couple of years let alone the 80's. Pretty much every city was crazy in the 70's and 80's. You do have a valid point though, a night out on the town in MIA is going to cost you more than a night out on the town in ATL. Between ATL and SF I still would pick the Bay though.

I think Atlanta is the better place to party, but if you're planning on spending a few days or a week, I think San Francisco is the better choice. SF still has pretty good nightlife, but you'll have a lot more to see and do in SF during the daytime when you're not partying than you will in Atlanta.

Don't forget that they stop serving alchohol after 2 AM in San Fran.

SanFran is a much bigger area. You will probably find more there.

Really?

Atlanta MSA: 5.5 million
San Francisco MSA: 4.3 million

Even the CSA of San Francisco Bay Area isn't much bigger than Atlanta...I mean, when an area hits 5 million residents it's hard to tell the difference in one with 1 million more. That said, I would choose San Francisco over Atlanta since I've lived in Atlanta for a few year - SF would be a more interesting trip for me. But if the OP is looking for a good time on a budget, then Atlanta is a much better option.

Yes really. The city of SF is larger than Atlanta and the Bay Area CSA is smaller in land area than the Atlanta MSA. The Bay CSA is at about 7.8 million now.
