Why the heck is Columbus trying to hold this up?? These are not construction delays. This sucks for the people ready to start their jobs in March and the missed taxes for the city of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County.

Not to mention, Cleveland will be in the national spotlight April 14 with the RRHOF Induction Ceremony...the Casino is supposed to be open for this...D@mn you Columbus!!

Because, in case you haven't already figured it out, the current crew in Columbus couldn't care less about the average person, their livelihoods, the funding of their schools, the City of Cleveland (or Toledo), Cuyahoga County, etc. It's punishment for being predominantly blue. It's punishment for being able to essentially succeed at development in adverse conditions with no help from the state. It's punishment for defiance, disagreement, and, most of all, disproving them. Anyone from this area who votes for these incompetent, vindictive morons during the next election cycle deserves exactly what they get.

Is it possible that they can still open in march? Or is it a FOR SURE that it IS delayed indefinitely?

Thanks for the clarification on what is causing the delay. Looking forward to your photos.

There may be construction delays -- what project doesn't have them? But, what is in the article is not nonsense. It's very real. Martin Hoke (Kasich's OCCC lapdog) has been essentially flapping off about doing this for months.

You need to read the rest of this thread. The Casino Commission sat languishing for months thanks to the Republicans. They refused to vote on Strickland's nominees and then Kasich threw them all out and they had to start all over again.

The commission lost a good six months of work thanks to silly partisanship in Columbus, not to mention Kasich's demands for more money which largely went to a consulting firm. Because of that, casino construction didn't start in earnest until that was all sorted out.

You don't have to buy it. Just read about it. State officials, especially in the OCCC (i.e., Kasich lapdog, Martin Hoke), have expressed no sense of urgency with these matters. One of the first things Kasich did, even before he took office in January, was to disband the regulatory body for the casinos that had already been appointed. It's been a mess of posturing, foot dragging, and general incompetence ever since.

PS - Kasich's jobs record is poor, even with national jobs growth occurring. His biggest claims so far are the bright spots generated by the 2002 voter mandated Third Frontier program (which Kasich was initially against) and the "medical corridor" which was already firmly in place well before he even considered running for his current office.

I don't support chronically poor decision makers, especially those who are dictatorial, ignorant, and purposefully vindictive. You're supposed to know how to govern before you become Governor. On the job training is not part of the job description.
