I don't think there was ever a set date. It won't take very long to convert the building. It's big and wide open. They could probably go from the status quo to an opening date in 3-4 months. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I wouldn't say 3-4 months because they have to move the positively Cleveland offices up to higher floors so they have to renovate the higher floors and maybe make necessary adjustments to the first 2 floors. I was just checking to see if they started work on the renovations yet though...

Moving those offices would take 2 weeks, tops.

It's all steel studs and drywall though. That type of renovation takes little time if properly organized. Look how fast they slapped up that Bodies exhibit on E. 4th and Euclid. A month before that opened, the location was literally a dirty storage area.

The election has thrown a wrench into any plans to open up any casinos. Gov. Strickland has already named the casino commission. This commission must be formed and approved by the legislature before gaming rules can even be considered. The Republican controlled Senate and Gov.-Elect Kasich refuse to acknowledge Strickland's nominee's. The Senate won't put them up for a vote.

So, we have a stand off until at least January. Which is not good since by law, gaming laws are supposed to be in place by March. I'd imagine this will be a long process since Kasich isn't exactly pro gambling. I don't think Gilbert or Penn National are in any hurry since this commission hasn't even been legally formed. Until it is, there isn't much they can do. They can come up with drawings and plans, but they have no idea what the future entails.

Since this is about development in the general area; I was in Cleveland this past weekend. What is the name of the building on the corner of East 9th and Euclid. Not the big black tower, but the one across from the PNC *cough* National City building. It has looked like its been under construction for two years, but nothing looks like it has changed. Anything going on with that?
