I'm curious whether this is fact or hype. Considering a change in careers. Know several recents grads (within 1 year of passing state exam) unable to find work. Anyone have information specifically on the Northeast Ohio market for new nurses?

TIA

There certainly is.
Just do a search on the Cleveland Clinic website for nursing positions. Last time I checked there were over 50 available.
Also check the UH site, as well.

A friend of mine graduated nursing school last year and was hired by Parma Hospital within a month. She quit there a few months ago and went to work at UH for a better shift.

I finished up my degree this past summer and I had a general education class with some nursing students. They were saying how they did different clinicals at some local hospitals and they could essentially choose where they wanted to work after they graduated because the hospitals were always in need of nurses.

I can't comment on that specifically, but I would assume that there is a need for both.

They are trying to phase out the LPN programs and replace them with Medical Assitance...Now the problem with that is the Medical Assitance aren't being paid what an LPN is paid...I also heard that they are trying to phase out the Medical Assistant program...I don't understand the medical field at all, and Im in it, lol......As far as the RN's go, I've heard from a lot of people that it was hard as heck to find a job....I don't get it..there is a shortage in the hospitals of nurses and the ones who have graduated can't get a job

Yeah, that's what I'm hearing about RNs, Lisa. Just trying to get a balanced perspective on this field before paying for school.

Honestly, if you are going to school for that, I think you'll be just fine...It might take a little time, depending on where you want to work, but I think you'll be fine... people told me before I started school for Phlebotomy that the jobs were hard to find....I did a reserch on Phlebotomy jobs and they are everywhere, especially here in cleveland....Just go for it

... and seriously do a search on the CC website. Takes just a few minutes.

Lot of PRN jobs. I don't even know what that is.
