I am new to Cleveland and I am leasing an apartment on the northern end of Coltman Road/Little Italy. I want to ask how safe is this area? I tried walking to uptown today through Euclid-E.120 Station, but it was pretty barren ( and a bit abandoned). I remember someone warned me about not wandering too far into Euclid or something.

I am a graduate student at case western, so there might be nights where I would stay on campus till around 7 or 8. Would it be safe to walk to the northern part of Coltman Road? Also, is it smart to leave packages out in this area (i.e: if I have to be away till 7 p.m)?

The station is right on the border of where you want to be and where you don't really want to be (East Cleveland, not Euclid). Really not much reason to go there though, so don't worry about it. The station is going to be relocated more to Little Italy anyway.

Just don't venture too far down Euclid past that bridge at the rapid stop. There's really no reason for you to go down that way anyway.

Thanks for the reply. Google map tells me that way is the shortest distance from my house to Constantino Market. I will try to find an alternate route from now on.

I tend to think even if it's longer, it might be a more vibrant/pleasant walk to go up Mayfield, and then turn and head down Coltman. Getting a bike might be a good idea also as that sounds like it's almost a mile. Little Italy and the immediate UC area though are very safe.

Isn't the University Circle police station at the intersection of Coltman and Euclid Ave?
