With the Broadway Series subscription base now about 49,000, no wonder it's increasingly difficult to exchange tickets when a date conflict takes place. Perhaps the Broadway Series will expand to five weeks in the not distant future.

The March 3 2020-2021 launch party will be live streamed on YouTube this year.

I liked the 2-level design of the PHS YT.
It's packed on Sunday mornings. If I want to go, I usually go around 9 to avoid the crowds.

Default Playhouse Square announces 2020-21 Key Bank Broadway Series

Currently, the Broadway Series has about 49,000 seats subscribed for the 3-week run for each of the seven shows. Both the Conner Palace and the State Theatres offer over 77,000 seats for three weeks. "Moulin Rouge" appears to be a 4-week run.

Did finally see the Temptations a few months ago and really enjoyed it.

Here's an article on the new marquees that will be going up.

Lots of information of interest in that article. Can't give you more cred, but thanks for posting. I haven't been reading cleveland.com for the last few months despite subscribing (it repeatedly annoys me, especially the often inane editorial page content).

My first reaction was you've got to be kidding me -- over $10 million for new marquees, but reading the article (thanks once more, Steven Litt) these are somewhat works of art that likely will generate great returns on investment given their likely long lives. Just another key feature in Playhouse Square's successful branding effort!

<<The $10.2 million budget for the new project does not include money for the Hanna Theatre marquee, which Playhouse Square is in the process of raising now. The goal, Vernaci said, is to complete the Hanna marquee in sync with the other new marquees next summer.>>

Here are other important pieces of information buried in the article of which I wasn't aware:

<<
Playhouse Square today owns and manages six major buildings in the district through its real estate arm, which manages a total of 2.5 million square feet of office, retail, cultural, and manufacturing facilities across Greater Cleveland.

The organization reported expenses of $72.5 million for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022, with an income of $78.5 million, of which 34.4%, or $27 million, came from its real estate operations.

Properties managed by Playhouse Square outside the theater district include Cleveland’s Shaker Square shopping center, Judson Manor and the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland in University Circle.>>

Very glad to see that Playhouse Square is so profitable, but my guess is that the profitability for the 2022 fiscal year may have resulted at least partially from significant federal pandemic relief funds.

When did Playhouse Square take over management of Shaker Square? I missed that development. As a result, will some enhanced entertainment venues make an appearance at Shaker Square?

Found this article answering my question about Shaker Square.

https://www.cleveland.com/community/...er-square.html

Some tidbits from that article:

<<“All of the storefronts are leased, although they’re not all occupied,” [consultant Terri Hamilton] Brown said. “And we anticipate some retail moving out. We’ve also met with new restaurateurs who are opening at (the former) Balaton.”

Specializing in craft beer, cocktails and food -- including seafood -- the new tenant is changing the design and working with an interior decorator on what could be a sports bar, something along the lines of the Academy Tavern on Larchmere Boulevard, that will have walkable charm to residents.>>

Doubtful the new establishment will be more charming and unique than the Balaton, a place of wonderful memories for me over past decades. I won't be traveling to Shaker Square to dine there, greatly because the experience would be somewhat akin IMO to looking at a dead body in a coffin, except worse given my fond memories of the Balaton.

<<CRESCO Playhouse Square Management is already on board, as is FASS Real Estate Services as the leasing agent, led by a Shaker Heights graduate.>>

Apparently Playhouse Square has partnered with a Cushman & Wakefield subsidiary to provide it with heft and expertise in its real estate management activities. Very smart IMO!
