Anyone live in or know of any good apartment buildings geared to 55+? I am most interested in renting rather than buying into one. Thanks...

The Westerly in Lakewood. I just moved here last June and it's great. It's for 62 and over. It's also income restricted so you have to be able to qualify.

Was there a long wait list? I am 60 so wouldn't be able to apply for a couple of years.

I didn't have to wait at all. I took a tour in April but my lease at the time wasn't up until June. I asked for an extension to that but as it turned out I didn't need it except for a maybe a week. The Westerly called me at the beginning of June and I was in by the middle of the month.

At the time they had just renovated my building and there were plenty of apartments available. The complex consists of three buildings and the third one will begin renovation in August. By the time you are 62, it will be finished and will have some new vacancies. That will be a good time to apply. You can always call to check on vacancies when you will be eligible.

Glad to help, I moved to the Cleveland area just a couple of years ago and I'm very happy here.

Good to hear..I'm starting to get anxious. I am moving there in a couple of weeks or so. I've never even visited before. I am so glad to be leaving Seattle though and be closer to New England where I grew up. It's good to hear that you like Cleveland after living in Portland and Chicago. I feel more hopeful.
