Not sure if this has been discussed or not, but what is the gay community like in Cleveland? How predominant is it? Are there any defined neighborhoods? I am visiting in the spring and was wondering.

Thnak you very much.

One word....Lakewood. I don't know much about Cleveland's gay community, but i know there are a lot of gay people living there. I also know there are (or used to be) some gay bars across the Detroit Superior bridge from downtown in what i believe is Ohio City. I only know this because i was in downtown about 8 years ago, lots of traffic at midnight and i had to use the restroom, bad! My boyfriend pulled up to the curb at the first bar we could find and told me he'd wait for me. I didn't care where i was or if i had to pay a cover, i just had to go! I was frantically looking for the women's restroom when i realized i was getting a lot of weird looks from the 99.9% male clientele. That's when i realized that i was in a gay bar and i started to worry that they might not have a women's restroom (i was very naive back then)! LOL Thankfully for me they did, and i think it's the only place i've ever been where the men's line was longer than the ladies! haha!

Westside would be your best bet. Lakewood, Tremont, a little bit of Ohio City mostly.

You may already want to check this out too...from our visitors bureau: Cleveland, Ohio LGBT Travel, hotels, restaurants, nightclubs information

Also the Edgewater neighborhood of Cleveland just east of the Cleveland-Lakewood border and west of Edgewater Park.

Cleveland Heights might be a good area, too, although I think the gay community there tends to be more couples-oriented (the suburb has a Domestic Partner Ordinance). I'm hearing there are quite a few gay couples purchasing houses in the Heights area.

As for the bar scene, it's pretty scattered. There really isn't a concentrated area of gay nightlife like there is in many other cities.

Default City of Cleveland has a Domestic Partner Ordinance

THE CITY OF CLEVELAND , THE CITY OF CLEVELAND PROPER IT SELF ,
has a domestic partner registry ordinance , that allows homosexuals or hetrosexuals to say they are in a commited relationship , ect. ect. I thought so, Passed on December 8, 2009 . After remembering all the heated Newscast, from those who opposed it , I Looked it up and it is a City of Cleveland Ordinance , Just thought I pass it along
