Hi all,

I will be moving to the Cleveland area in early June and I need some input. I've spent about a total of 18 hours in Cleveland previous to this so I don't know the area very well, or at all really, but I do know I will be working in Mayfield.

What I'm mainly looking for is input on places to live. I'd like to stay closer to Mayfield to lessen my commute, but I'm open to other locations as well. I'm looking for somewhere clean, safe and not too expensive. I'm looking to rent, apartment preferably, so if anyone has any good recommendations on those as well I'd love to hear them.

I'm also wondering what there is to do for a mid 20's male in the area? Any input on either of these questions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Where are you coming from? What kind of environment are you looking for (in terms of density, development type, etc.?

I'm coming from a very small town in Michigan's upper peninsula so I would prefer an area with an urban feel, but not too busy. Probably a populated suburban area would be ideal, but I'm open to other areas as well.

Just out of curiosity, where in the UP are you from? I moved to Cleveland from Mqt a few months ago.

Sounds like Mayfield Heights may be a good fit for you. Short commute to work, lots of nice bars and restaurants nearby, with a general suburban feel to the area. There are a lot of decent, affordable apartment complexes in Mayfield Heights with many young people living there. Also some nice parks a short drive/bike ride away.

What else are you looking for? The more details you can give, the more we can help!

Thanks for the advice all. If I had to add more things I'm looking for an area with an active community with a lot of people around my age, bike trails would be nice, also golfing near by. I've looked into Mayfield Heights and like the sounds of the area so it's defiantly on my list.

Also NightHawk86 I'm currently in Houghton, finishing up my undergrad, but I'm originally from down state MI

Coventry in Cleveland Hts is still my vote for you. Lots of people your age around/active street life and community. Note: you can see golf courses and park nearby too http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&um...ed=0CAcQnwIwAA ("Terrain mode" is the best view for this)

Shaker Lakes is nearby and is great for biking and walking and so are the immediate neighborhoods to the south -- gorgeous older mansions and homes.

Coventry or Cleveland Heights are great areas to look into. Also, check out Tremont and Ohio City.
