Mexican Food (Oak Island, Leland, Shallotte: coupon, live, restaurants)

Does anyone know of any good Mexican restaurants in Brunswick County? Please! Any one but Plaza Garibaldi, San Jose or San Felipe on Oak Island. Have tried those places and they have (in my opinion, very mediocre Mexican)! Looking for good authentic Mexican! Thanks for anyone's suggestions!

Las Palmeras in Shallotte is good. The San Felipe in Shallote is decent but not as good as Las Palmeras. IMO if you are used to really good mexican food than you won't find anything that lives up to expectations in brunswick county. I'm still searching for a real slice of NY pizza.....

Thanks for the recommendation. Will give it a try. Twenty-five years in Chicago has also left me on a quest for a decent pizza in this area. I have pretty much given up and now make my own pizza from scratch at home!

It's a little bit of a drive, but try Mexico Viejo in Leland (near Harris Teeter).
We have eaten there several times and have had really good meals. The service is super and the waiters are all very nice.

Thanks for the recommendation! Hubs and I went to Mexico Viejo last night and it was great! Can you tell how desparate we were for mexican food? We also used the coupon and wait staff couldn't have been nicer. Restaurant was doing a pretty brisk business for a Tuesday night which is always a good sign. Now if we could only find decent pizza...ah! Just a pipe dream!!
