I am a single mom of 3 teenagers and looking to relocate to coastal NC. I will need new employment(being laid off Jully 15th). I was stationed in Cherry Point NC 25 years ago and loved living in the south. I don't want to be to close to the military bases and the college's but I do need someplace affordable and where I can find a job. All thoughts are welcome! PS - I am currently an Office Manager but also worked Tech support.

Please read through the forum. There are hundreds of people thinking of moving to the coast, and the usual advice is "find a job first". If your experience is in tech support and office management, there are probably better prospects in the Raleigh-Durham area. I live in Sneads Ferry, and Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville seems to be a big source of jobs, otherwise there are hospitality jobs.

Can you be a bit more specific when you say, "I don't want to be to close to the military bases and the college's". Define, "close".
As you know-There is a base in Havelock, Bogue, Downeast & Jacksonville as well as other installations. If close is 5-10 miles then you might not want to move here at all!

Thank you all for your input when I said I didn't want to be close to military base specifically not Camp Lejune - and Colleges I meant big colleges like the chapel hill area. I lived in the Havelock area but that was 25 years ago and didn't look like to many available jobs in that area. I was looking into Greenville I know that is a college town but looks like there are jobs in that area per my internet research.
