live in coastal nc area morehead city and have a shed (12 x 30) that over time turned into man cave / game room, after building inspector got involved , didnt meet code , which i fixed but now are saying that cant be used for the purpose i am using it for, question is what can permit be changed to as far as classification, to continue to use as man cave, and show nosey neighbor to mind her own bussiness any advise would be helpful

I'd consult a contractor to see what you have to do to turn it into an accessory building, comparable to a pool house or backyard office. You probably can't have a bathroom in it.

Of course, I don't know the building codes in your county or the specifics of your site. However, people are doing in in other areas, and here's a couple of article from how-to sites:
