Are you concerned about schools, jobs, nightlife? What in particular?

I work with a dozen or so people from Newport. They all like living there. Not much there but real quick to Morehead and not bad to New Bern.

Nothing wrong with the area. Newport is a small city but enormous zip code. Are you asking about the city specifically? Depending on where you live you could be closer to Havelock, Beaufort, MHC or Cape Carteret than the city of Newport. Most who don't live within the city limits frequent those places and Jacksonville more than they do the city of Newport proper, and have no real connection with the town outside of their address.

Thanks for that info on Newport. We will be closest to Beaufort(my favorite NC town)We love the rural privacy, which we now have in MO.I am hoping a few more homes will spring up in that isolated area though. This is our 6yrs to retirement plan.
