For Wilmington, how long does it typically take you to get to work and back with traffic?

You have asked the unanswerable question. Naturally it depends on where you come from and where you go. You might try Google maps and see if there is a live traffic report for the time of day you want. You can also check the CD profile of Wilmington which has a chart of average travel time to work. The band with the highest number of people was the 10-15 minute range, so a lot of people live close to work.

I don't commute as I am retired, but the few times I have been in Wilmington, I thought the traffic was exceptionally bad for a city its size. Basically the major arteries to work centers are College Road and Market Street. College is 6 lanes with traffic lights. Market is 4 lanes with traffic lights. Other commuter roads are Carolina Beach, Military Cutoff and Eastwood, and they all have traffic lights. There are no freeways to relieve the congestion.

It takes me about 10 minutes at the most to get to work. But I use Independence and not College. For most, it doesn't take any more than 20 minutes.

when i lived at the beach: 25 - 30 minutes

i can't imagine how this information could be useful, considering that we all live and work in different places.
