So it's the governments fault that there are idiots out there making threats to their families lives?
I don't condone anyone making verbal threats. However, Dana Outlaw's major campaign message was "To lower utility bills in New Bern". Therefore, he should be prepared for backlash--he lied and did the exact opposite of what was promised.

The previous mayor said the same and no threats were reported.
If I'm not mistaken, it wasn't a new policy, just a decision to enforce existing policy. Also, the police declined to prosecute the person making the threats, they decided it wasn't serious enough.
From the article
"The City of New Bern said it writes off more than half a million dollars in unpaid utility bills each year.
But some residents said the debt isn't their responsibility.
"The answer is not to put the debt on the backs of these people. The answer is to find another source to pay it," said resident William Brenner."
What???? The answer isn't to have people be responsible for their own power bills but for the city to find another source to pay their bills for them? This is where we are in out new entitlement culture.
Too bad there is no accountability for idiots in government who ruin our lives...
Well there is.....that is what elections are for.
