Hello, I have just moved to the area with my family. We have a young child, and are looking for family-friendly Halloween activities. All I have seen so far is that downtown apparently has a huge party (although not so sure what will be going on after the fiasco I read about from last year), which seems to be more geared toward the college/young adult crowd.
What is the scoop with trick or treating? Do kids go around the neighborhoods, and if so, are there some areas that are recommended? I saw that Greenville does not have a designated day/time for trick or treating, is there some way to find out when it is going on? Or are there other community trick or treating events that people normally do as opposed to the traditional door-to-door?
We are not very well connected yet, so if you know of specific groups or locations we can check out, that would be great! I'd also be interested to know what other fall/Halloween festivals or activities are recommended.
My kids, along with hundreds of others, trick or treat in our neighborhood. If you are not in a family neighborhood, you can just drive to one, park along the street, and go from there. On my side of town, neighborhoods such as Lynndale, Irish Creek, Cedar Ridge, and Canturbury are all great options. I think we typically start between 6:30-7:00 and stay out till about 8:00.
October 24th there is a trunk or treat at ECU at the bottom of college hill dr from 4-6.
A lot of churches around town hold trunk or treats on nights preceding Halloween. What the person above said about just driving to a neighborhood and parking / walking is accurate. We live in a small neighborhood that doesn't get any kids really do we take our kids to another neighborhood Brittney Ridge and trick or treat over there. They have some houses that really get into it.
