Potential job. Currently live in Florida, but not much incentive for staying. It seems to be not near anything - too far from Raleigh, far from Wilmington.

It just seems like a normal, little town. It appears to be quite lovely from photos.

Avoid. Economy wrecked it in 80s/90s and never recovered. I hear very dangerous.

Is that what you heard? Can you share your experiences, please?

I used to live in Washington, but moved to Greenville because that's where I work. Since I've moved, Washington's downtown - while quite small - has become one the more quaint and charming in the state. Sometimes I give serious thought to moving back to Washington. If I didn't have to go through the hassle of selling my house, I probably would.

OP, unless you plan on living in the dead center of town or on MLK St. or in a trailer park on the outskirts of town, it's a nice place to live, especially if you can afford living on the massive Pamlico River.

Do yourself a favor and use the search box in this particular forum. There are already a few threads on Washington.

Thank you, both. So far the statistics I have read show it to be quite a high crime rate, except for Winterville, which would be a bit of a commute in winter. It does look lovely from photos, but I will search some more threads. It's just an interview, no job offer.

Work at the hospital for 7 years. Long enough to know I wouldn't want my loved one treated there. Better areas to live on that side of the state.
