Publix announced in August 2015 its first store in the City of Wilmington and in New Hanover County, North Carolina, would be store 1516, 716 Bragg Drive, Wilmington, North Carolina 28412-0914, at the southwest corner of Bragg Drive and South College Road. Store 1516 is projected to open in late 2016.
The construction of store 1516 must be moving very quickly. Publix has a job fair for the store Sunday, 12 June, through Thursday, 16 June.
I noticed the site plan for store 1516 does not appear to have a pharmacy drive thru. I assume store 1516 will not have it.

The sign says Pharmacy, but I guess just not a drive through.
They are working on the curbs on Bragg today, with a new turn lane going east on Bragg toward College. Sidewalks on that side are nice and will extend all the way to College aside of the existing Bank of America building on the corner. Building looks like it may be complete next month.

I would like to assume this would be the completion of the actual construction. It will take another month to install equipment and fixtures and stock the shelves. Another indicator is the issuance of the pharmacy permit from the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy where a pharmacy usually opens within 30 days.

Publix has not officially announced store 1516's opening on its "New Store Opneings" page yet. With a Wednesday, 10 August, opening, that announcement should be soon.
