So horrified for Ocracoke. They’re saying all over the place that it’s the worst flooding they’ve seen in a lifetime, or 50 years (depending on one’s age)

Or this one:

Water rises 7 feet in 2 hours in Ocracoke, N.C., as the eye of Hurricane Dorian moves past

Try 92 yrs, NM. One woman there is 92 and has lived there her whole life and says she never has seen it that bad.

It went away just about as fast, but not until it had flooded people's houses and cars and stores and restaurants and other businesses. It's just stuff and as far as I have heard no one was hurt, but that is going to be some clean up for sure.

Planning 3 days in Nag's Head starting Tuesday. Does anyone know how cleanup is proceeding and will power be on and businesses open by Tuesday PM?

Based on many past experiences they elected to stay. I can understand. We evacuated for Florence (se NC) and in hindsight wish we hadn’t. So I have a lot of sympathy for them.
