Would you share your favorite Wilmington restaurants for different ethnic foods?
Coming for a visit and want to make a "do not miss" list for lunches & dinners.
We especially enjoy all kinds of Asian cuisines...we know about Indochine, but are there others to try? Prefer small, local places over chains...casual over fancy.
Anything unusual/special, off the beaten tourist path?
Thanks a bunch!

I'm not sure how much has survived the pandemic, especially small, local places. Try anything that's open. We had not been to a restaurant in a year and a half before we went to the local Denny's.
Very few regulars participate in this forum any more.
I would stick with locally-oriented Southern food. Why do you want to bother with exotic cuisine that is done better in bigger cities?
There's Pinpoint, Rooster and The Crow, and The Basics in downtown, which advertise local Southern food. Also, The George on the Riverwalk. A bit further from downtown, these sound interesting: Nippy's Soul Food and Savor Southern Kitchen.
Can you get sweet potato biscuits, fried okra or sausage gravy at home?

We found a couple of South American places that sounds interesting, too.
Plus an Indian place...
Any place else unusual you like??
We get great seafood, and sushi where we live, but ethnic cuisine is in short supply, except for Italian...
Ignore the food police who feel compelled to answer every post, regardless of the fact they don't live near Wilmington, and who want to tell you what YOU should eat. smh
Savorez is great, as is Ceviche's. Los Portales has awesome mexican.
I was also going to recommend Ceviche's and my favorite restaurant in Wilmington (not really ethnic food) is Manna which has a small menu, but usually some creative items with very creative drink specials.

Yes! Like you, we live in coastal NC and have great Southern food here...we like international foods when we travel as they are in short supply here.
Wilmington seems rich in interesting eateries, unlike our coastal community. I love my shrimp & grits and shrimp burgers and and cheese & ham biscuits and sweet potato everything but am longing for something else right now.

Appreciate you taking the time to send some recommendations my way!! Yummy, yummy, can hardly wait.
