My husband is considering an opportunity in Wilmington and I am curious your thoughts on neighborhoods. I have an agent, but love the community spirit of this site.
Budget - 1-1.5M
Want a neighborhood that is FULL of kids, my kids love to ride their Byrd scooters and meet up with friends etc.
Kids - 14, 10
Considering Landfall, Porters Neck, but neither have a "kid vibe".

You should not have to spend that much money. Landfall and Porter's Neck are for the wealthy, older set.
I suggest somewhere near Roland-Griese Middle School and Hoggard High School, such as the Masonboro Sound area. They may not be top-notch schools, but there will be kids around. Here's the report card for the middle school: https://ncreports.ondemand.sas.com/s...ar=2021&lng=en
The Masonboro Sound area probably uses Myrtle Grove Middle School. It does not score particularly well at GreatSchools, but there are advanced placement options. There are also private schools and the Early College HS if your kids would benefit.
We do not have the super-competitive public schools like the Triangle has.

Lots of them don't in Wilmington. They're still fine.
FWIW my wife went to Grise but for a while the neighborhood was zoned to Williston. He still graduated NCSU with an engineering degree.
