My family and I are considering relocating to NC - and are looking at Charlotte area and Wilmington. We have a son who will be a freshman and plays lacrosse/golf/soccer/hockey and wants a strong athletic program as well as academics. My daughter will be in 3rd grade and loves soccer/dance/cheerleading. Looking for suggestions on great schools and family friendly neighborhoods. My husband loves to golf as well. Me? Just give me some good stores and restaurants and I'm happy!
Why did you choose those two areas? They're both very god places, but VERY different. Charlotte is a large metro area with a strong economy, 4-season climate, urban feel, and lots of suburbs. Wilmington is a small metro, a fast-growing ocean side community, historic, retirees/tourists, beautiful communities, and the three H's (heat, humidity, and hurricanes). Both are great areas, but what you're looking for in a place to live is VERY important in your choice! Let us know if we can help.
We relocated in 1998...My vote is for South Charlotte or Union County, but I suppose you figured that out from my name You can do a basic home search on my website (just click on my name and scroll down to get to my site) I would also be happy to direct you to school report websites as well...feel free to PM me and best of luck to you!
